Established in 2019 The Magnus Foundation, a 501(c)(3), is an offshoot of Magnus Karate, LLC. After 9 years of owning and operating Magnus Karate Sensei Pannulla and his wife decided to pursue the creation of a nonprofit organization to provide more opportunities to Magnus’s young leaders and to have a platform to get martial arts deeper into the local community. Together with their mutual background in education and experience working for a summer camp company as young adults they brought the vision for the Magnus Foundation to life.
The Magnus Foundation began by awarding scholarships to the students and employees of Magnus Karate as they pursued higher education in 2020. They are now known as the Ted Newell Educational Scholarships in honor of a late Foundation supporter and Magnus Karate student. In 2022 the Foundation expanded to reach more children in the greater West Chester area by funding a summer karate camp experience in partnership with the Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center and Magnus Karate. The camp experience presented the opportunity for the Foundation to also begin offering tuition scholarships for children from the summer camp to train at Magnus Karate as full time students. These children benefit from martial arts training but cannot otherwise access this activity due to family financial circumstances.
As a 501(c)(3) organization we are fueled by the support of our community through donations.
The Mission of the Magnus Foundation is to unlock the potential within the youth of our community by providing access to continuous learning, leadership development, and martial arts training.
In 2022 The Magnus Foundation began providing full year tuition scholarships for students to train at Magnus Karate. These donor funded scholarships cover the cost of karate classes, belt tests, and all of the needed gear for our tuition scholarship students. These students are required to consistently train and follow the protocol of Magnus Karate, like all other students, to maintain their eligibility.

Our Board of Directors is comprised solely of volunteers who are accomplished professionals in their fields and involved members of their communities. They are also all long time Magnus Karate supporters.

As the owner and head instructor of Magnus Karate, LLC, a grassroots company, Sensei Mike Pannulla felt the need to offer his students something to take into their future with them as they aged out of youth karate practice and moved on to higher education to pursue their dreams. The formation of The Magnus Foundation was the obvious choice to provide that platform.
As a former public educator, Jennifer Pannulla has a passion for knowledge and learning. She was thrilled to support her husband in the creation of this foundation and to serve as the director - leading the organization's work. She loves to support young people in the pursuit of their educational goals and to work with the youth of her local community.
